It Takes an (Open Source) Village to Build a Cloud

Published September 29, 2012
Topics IaaS, PaaS, Linux, FOSS

Just as Linux, Apache, MySQL and Php/Perl/Python
formed the open source foundations for the read-
write web open source technologies like Xen, KVM
and many others along with Linux are forming the
foundations of the cloud. To truly build robust cloud
computing environments it requires a wide variety
of open source software that when combined create
environments that are much greater than the sum
of their parts. This session will address how you
use open source software and agile operations
methodologies such as DevOps to create automated,
scalable cloud computing environments. This session
will cover infrastructure-as-as-service, platform-as-
a-service(PaaS) and the tools needed to deploy and
manage that infrastructure. Additionally the discussion
will cover the standards and conventions needed to
ensure cloud computing remains open.
